I'LL HAVE A STORY TO TELL HER.

Some stories are quiet, and subdued. Some are belly laughing. Some have a wild love. Some are big moments. And some are seemingly mundane. But those moments between moments that you didn’t even realize were happening will mean just as much.

Open your heart and let your real life fly free.

Because our real lives are the most beautiful and honest stories to tell.

MY WHY

The late afternoons light of a warm spring day trickled in through the charming large carriage windows. And that sunshine was gently radiating, wrapping around her like a warm blanket. She sat in the deep windowsill in front of the deep basin porcelain sink. The water gently splashed into my hands as I had just wet the dish cloth I had pumped with fresh soap.

I looked up to her, my daughter, her hands clasped in her lap, her long curly-q draped over left cheek, her scrunched little barefoot toes, as she so sweetly looked towards the water with a gentle delight.

LIFE IS THE BEST INSPIRATION

The skinny strap of her pink polka dot cotton dress had slipped down her shoulder, only adding to the sweetness I was witnessing. And little did I know, that pink polka dot cotton dress would soon become her favorite, most worn and stained piece of clothing that I would have to eventually “hide” in the back of her dresser drawer.

She sits here, in this very spot with me, every single day, multiple times a day. “Helping” me wash the dishes and getting our meals ready. It is our special ritual. And in this moment of this particular day, without even thinking to turn the water off, I quickly stepped back to snag my camera.

A moment that I had been thinking I needed to document, to remember. A real moment. A meaningful moment. A moment that I know will someday pass as she will grow and never fit in that very spot again. But I’ll always have this image to remind me, to transport me back in time, and show her when she is older.

And that right there, that is the reason why I believe in honest imagery. Honest imagery tells a story. Your REAL story. Not a contrived setup, stiff, studio posed, awkward, look at me and smile while I say “cheese” story.

MY HEART ...

BEHIND THE LENS

It’s me, Danielle: wife, wellness loving mama, that crazy horse girl, and documenter of life. I work exclusively with all those who are down to earth, free spirited and have a passion for life and loving one another.

I pour my heart into what I create, but I also pride myself on the relationship I will build with you in order to capture those truly sincere moments, no matter how big or small they may be. I’ll ask questions, and really get to know who you are. Maybe something like that is what sets photographers apart, but it is what’s important to me, and I hope it is the same for you. If this is the case, I really look forward to the opportunity to get to learn more about you and how I can tell your story in the most honest and authentic way possible.

love, well, that should never have labels, so I welcome all walks of life with open arms.

MORE

I believe in beautiful classic black and white photos. There is some sort of special mystery and depth about them. And they really have a way of saying something without actually using any words.

"Danielle is such a special soul. Her approach is authentic and natural. She has a way of revealing and capturing the real, raw beauty of her clients."

- RACHEL A.

The days with my little lady may seem long, but the weeks are fleeting. I capture and document moments of her that someday I can look back on and remember. Just how perfectly her little hands fit into mine, or the way she looks up to me with utter delight. Her giggle. A physical memory to have forever.

Shooting on a film camera. It is just so authentic. And the sound the shutter makes.

I love, love, love hands. Hands tell so many stories. And the way two people wrap and intertwine their hands together is such a beautiful thing. There is such beauty to be found in the way two people in love will hold hands and embrace one another.

Herbalism. Wellness. Yoga. All of the above. Put the good in, get the good out.

I am kind of in love with the crunching sound that stones and pebbles makes as tires pass over and through them when you are driving up a gravel road. It sounds like home to me. Or an adventure just over the hill. There is just something so comforting and nostalgic about it.

Plants. Greenery. Bring the indoors out. They bring so much life to a space. I need a shirt that say, “crazy cat lady is really the new crazy plant lady”. Please surround me with all the plants.

A day doesn’t go by when I don’t eat something spicy. Cayenne pepper. Hot peppers. Hot sauce. All the spicy, give it to me. It’s homemade? Even better.

Black and White Images. I believe in beautiful classic black and white photos. There is some sort of special mystery and depth about them. And they have a way of saying something without actually using any words.

I’m slightly obsessed with the sound of water. Flowing through Creeks. Down Mountains. Gently hitting the shore of a beach. It is my favorite music of nature.
